An event you should be attending: the WYRD Distro Launch Party!
I am beyond excited to share this bit of news with you…
Weird Canada is a volunteer powered Canadian Non-Profit dedicated to encouraging, documenting, and connecting creative expression across Canada, with a focus on marginalized, do-it-yourself and do-it-together arts communities. (You can learn more about them here).
Weird Canada was recently given some money from FACTOR to start up a distribution network for Canadian independent artists.
This Saturday at Backstreet Records (and 18 other rad spots across Canada) we’re kicking off the distro with a bang, and cake.
Aside from the bands, I think the most important/exciting part of the event is that YOU, a local band or performer, will have the opportunity to give me up to 5 copies of your album to submit to the distro.
I’ll give you all of the information you could possibly want about the distro – like how a distro works, payment for you, pricing of your record, curation of the distro, etc. You’ll have a chance to chat with the Exec Director of Weird Canada about it. If you’re a keener – you can read ahead and come with questions by reading this pamphlet.
The show is free. So is the cake.
See you tomorrow at 1:30pm!
