To get this out of the way, here are a few important acronyms you should know before chatting to anyone about CrossFit.
WOD: Workout of the Day
AMRAP: As Many Rounds As Possible
EMOTM: Every Minute On The Minute
It took me longer than I am comfortable admitting to learn the “lingo” used at the Gym.
I wanted to explain that before I told you about an incredible event Fundy CrossFit is hosting for the Children’s Wish Foundation: WOD for WISHES.
On Saturday June 14th, FCF is hosting their first ever WOD for WISHES. What does this mean exactly?
It’s a competition – friendly, of course – to find the fittest kid, fittest teen, fittest man and fittest women around. Teams and individuals will compete against the clock and against each other using basic CrossFit lifts and movements.
Here’s a teaser:
Front Squats 95/65
Overhead Squats 75/55
Cleans & Power Cleans ( plus hang) up to 135/95
Snatch & Power Snatch (plus hang) up to 75/55
Push Press & Push Jerk up to 95/65
Overhead Barbell lunges up to 95/65
Deadlifts up to 185/125
Hand release Push-ups
Kettlebell swings 53/35
Goblet squats up to 53/35
1 Arm Kettlebell snatches up to 53/35
1 Arm OH lunges up to 53/35
Overhead plate lunges 45/35
I’ve been assured that the weights are scaled appropriately… so that people like *ahem* me *ahem* can participate without a modification.
I hope if you’re a CrossFitter you’ll consider signing up. Fundy CrossFit’s goal is to raise enough money to make one wish come true, with proceeds from the event going to the Children’s Wish Foundation of New Brunswick. AND – you’ll receive a tax receipt for your donation.
Win, Win, Win.
(The third win is for you, as maybe the fittest man or women at the Charity WOD?)
There are great prizes from LemonGrass, KENT, Element5, Jenny May McKim at Scentsy… + more depending on how your do during the WOD.
